I believe the key is to stay motivated and surround yourself by positive people. I am a firm believer in hard work, dedication and determination. It is important to not only train your body but also strengthen your mind to stay focused and enjoy your own personal journey. The Path to Fitness: From a very young age I was always an active kid I remember following my Dad around the Police gym mimicking all his exercises with little 3lbs weight, pretending to give him a spot on bench press! Being from a great Italian family though food was never scarce and oil was considered an essential additive! Needless to say I began to find myself over weight, being at the awkward age peers don’t make circumstances any better! That’s when I became determined and began reading as much as I could about exercise and nutrition and between Junior high and high school transformed myself and found my passion, I have not looked back since or missed a work-out! I had always had a desire to compete but was never sure the process. For two years I competed in track and field at the University of Calgary but found I was more passionate about weight training, luckily I was able to meet some great people and inspirations and further competed and won my first shows, Figure and Fitness Model with the WNSO, attaining my Pro Card for both Figure and Fitness Model! Not bad for my first show! From there I have continued to pursue my dreams under the CBBF finding a love for bodybuilding with hopes to one day win my class at the Canada’s. Every year is exciting and I cannot wait to see the improvements and changes I make during the off-season payoff when I am standing on stage. Do you have thoughts of competing? Other Interests: Until recently I played highly competitive court volleyball at the local, provincial and national level! Volleyball is my second love, being 5’3 I was a setter and libero. I still play beach and recreational volleyball at the University with a great group of girls (Go Big Hitties!). In the summer I love bike riding with my boyfriend, wakeboarding and heading out to our cabin in Penticton BC to relax and Sun tan. Traveling! Aside from health and wellness I love to travel I have spent 3 months in Southeast Asia with my best friend Rachel! A treat to myself after competing at the WNSO Toronto nationals! Attended the Torino 2006 Olympics with my boyfriend to cheer on his sister a famous curler and am planning a trip to Costa Rica this October now that I am finished my University degrees, truly amazing!. I love traveling and hope to visit as many diverse countries and cultures as I can.
